Back to overview

With the presentation “AI-First in Energy: How artificial intelligence restructures processes and entire business models” at E‑world 2026, Sven Buchholz from taod Consulting will give an outlook on how AI is fundamentally changing the energy industry.

The industry is on the verge of a paradigm shift. While the digital transformation was aimed at making existing processes more efficient, the use of intelligent systems opens the possibility of fundamentally rethinking work. The use of intelligent systems thus marks a much deeper upheaval. Artificial intelligence not only optimizes individual processes, but also changes decision-making logics, organizational structures and, increasingly, business models of energy suppliers.

From taod Consulting’s project practice, the presentation shows that many energy companies are currently still in an experimental phase, such as with AI chatbots, isolated forecasting models or selective automation. However, the real added value only arises when AI is understood as a strategic infrastructure and used along the entire value chain: from forecasting to network and sales control to customer management and operational decision-making.

The focus is on the thesis that AI should not be seen as a tool of individual departments but must develop into a new “operating system” for energy companies. Using concrete use cases from projects with energy suppliers, Sven Buchholz shows how AI supports decision-making processes, sets priorities in sales, dynamically controls operational processes and enables organizations to react faster and more informed to market changes.

In addition, the presentation will shed light on the differences between classic automation and real intelligence as well as the strategic and ethical issues associated with the widespread use of AI. These include responsibilities for AI-supported decisions, transparency of models and the question of how energy companies remain resilient and capable of acting in the long term.

The lecture will take place on the first day of the fair, on February 10, 2026, from 2:30 to 3:00 p.m. in the Change Forum in Hall 6 and is aimed at decision-makers from the energy industry who want to understand how AI can become a structural component of their company beyond individual use cases – technologically, organizationally and strategically.

Afterwards, questions about specific use cases can be discussed further at taod Consulting’s booth 6C101 in Hall 6.
