Back to overview

Protect control systems in compliance with KRITIS requirements using cyber security solutions from the Kuhse Energy Group. Focus: Resilient control systems for power plants, prime power, hybrid power/microgrid, and emergency power applications based on the IEC 62443 standard.

Challenge

Increasing connectivity poses major challenges for the operational security of decentralized power generation plants, especially in critical infrastructures (CRITIS). Previously isolated areas must be secured against cyber attack possibilities and secure environments for Industry 4.0 products and control systems must be created in accordance with the EU Cyber Security Act.

Many power plants and industrial plants are not prepared for dealing with malware targeted on industrial automation and control systems (IACS). Especially PLC, HMI and SCADA systems are vulnerable targets as cyber attacks on such systems could lead to a massive disruption in operation or even outage of the entire power plant.

The complexity in the area of IT security is also constantly increasing due to the digitization of industrial control systems, rapidly growing technology for Industry 4.0, and increasing interconnectivity between industrial data networks (OT) and enterprise data networks (IT).

Umbrella act for critical infrastructure protection (KRITIS-Dachgesetz

The planned umbrella act for critical infrastructure protection (KRITIS-Dachgesetz) aims to establish uniform and legally binding protection for critical infrastructures in Germany. Fundamental provisions from various regulations such as the NIS2 Directive, the BSI Act, and industry-specific regulations are intended to better protect operators of critical infrastructures against failures, attacks, or other disruptions.
