Free admission for university and school students

E‑world energy & water is Europe’s leading trade fair for the energy industry. From February 10 to 12, 2026, the sector will once again come together at Messe Essen. With the Career Day on Thursday, February 12, 2026, the trade fair places a strong focus on promoting young talent and offers a dedicated platform to inspire the next generation to pursue careers in the energy industry. University and school students will receive free admission on this day.

The energy industry is undergoing continuous transformation. Job profiles and qualification requirements are changing, while the shortage of skilled professionals continues to intensify. The success of the energy transition therefore depends largely on the availability of qualified specialists. With the Career Day, E‑world creates a platform where young professionals can gain first-hand knowledge of the energy sector, learn about career prospects and establish personal contacts at an early stage.

Diverse program with practical relevance at the Change Forum

The day’s agenda is varied and highly practice-oriented. Experts will share their knowledge about careers, trends and challenges in the energy industry through presentations and panel discussions. The event kicks off at 10:45 a.m. with the keynote speech ‘Job interviews in the era of ChatGPT – How can I make sure my preparation is structured?‘.

At 11:15 a.m., the panel discussion ‘Your future with energy: Discover exciting ways into the energy industry’ will follow. Here, HR managers from several companies outline their roles, present career paths and answer participants’ questions about starting a career.

A special highlight is the popular ‘CEO meets Student’ format, where young talents meet industry leaders. Participants include Kristina Haverkamp from dena, Thomas Mehrer from Siegener Versorgungsbetriebe, and Jürgen Heidak from CURSOR.

Additional insights into entering the workforce will be offered at 12:30 p.m. by the presentation ‘The energy industry in transition – Where are the new jobs being created?‘. It shows how job profiles are evolving and which new career opportunities are arising as a result of the sector’s transformation.

Interactive formats support career orientation

The Career Day offers participants numerous additional opportunities for personal exchange and networking. Young professionals share experiences from their everyday working lives and provide authentic perspectives on their career paths. The Career Day app leads young talents through the exhibition halls in an interactive rally. Many exhibitors offer interactive challenges that bring the diversity of the industry to life. Participants include leading grid operators, energy companies, consultancies and technology providers such as Amprion, Trianel, MVV, Uniper, E.ON and ista. They all use the Career Day to connect with potential young professionals and to showcase the wide range of career opportunities in the energy industry.
