Debut of the “Tag der Kommunen (Day of Municipalities)”

Expert depth, internationality, and a clear thematic concept define the program of E‑world energy & water 2026, taking place from 10 to 12 February in Essen. Each of the four expert forums will focus on a specific topic each day, providing visitors with clear orientation. For the first time, the program will be complemented by the new format “Tag der Kommunen” (Day of Municipalities). The program is now available free of charge in the E‑world Community and will be continuously updated.

The E‑world stage program will once again be organized into themed days. This creates space to explore the key topics in depth and from different perspectives, while also making it easier to plan a visit to the fair. Good to know: access to the forums is already included in the trade fair ticket. The program will be held in German and English, with simultaneous translation from German into English.

New Energy Systems Forum now in Hall 5

In 2026, the New Energy Systems Forum moves to Hall 5, offering exciting insights into the transformation of European energy systems. It will kick off with the topic “Trading & Finance”. A highlight will be the international panel on Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Flexibility Purchase Agreements (FPAs) in Spain and Germany. On the second day, the focus will be on “Future Energy Generation”, with a panel on Poland’s energy transition showing how national strategies provide different solutions for the European energy market. Under the theme “Energy Transition in Cities”, Thursday will spotlight the energy transition at the local level. This program is part of the first-ever “Tag der Kommunen”.

Climate Solutions Forum focuses on climate-neutral energy supply

The Climate Solutions Forum in Hall 6 will examine innovative strategies for decarbonization. The first day centres on “European Gas Markets”, highlighting the role of gas in an increasingly decarbonized energy system. The second day will focus on “European Electricity Grids”, addressing both the development and modernization of European power grids. As part of the “Tag der Kommunen” on the third day, “Heating & Buildings” will examine the transformation of the heating and building sector.

Future Forum – Politics, flexibility and resilient infrastructures

At the Future Forum in Hall 5, the program opens with “Politics & Regulations”, focusing on current and future political and regulatory frameworks. The second day will be dedicated to “Flexibility & Storage”, examining how battery storage and other technologies contribute to flexibility in future energy systems. On the final day, the focus will turn to “Resilient Infrastructures” addressing key questions on the stability and security of energy supply.

Change Forum – Start-ups and innovation in the spotlight

The forum in Hall 4 highlights innovative ideas and disruptive technologies, offering numerous formats for and by start-ups. Under the theme “Transforming the Energy Sector” on Tuesday, forward-looking developments and their impact on the energy sector will be explored. A highlight will be the start-up pitches, where young companies present their ideas and engage in discussion. Wednesday will focus on “Powering Innovation”, exploring the potential of innovations and how they can be sustainably driven. On the third day, the Change Forum becomes the stage for “Career Day”, giving young professionals insight into the diverse energy sector, selected companies, and current industry topics.

“Tag der Kommunen” – Platform for local decision-makers

As key players in implementing the energy transition, municipalities face numerous challenges. Local conditions, staff shortages, and tight budgets make it difficult to manage these already large tasks. With the “Tag der Kommunen” on February 12, 2026, E‑world creates a platform to support municipal representatives with relevant information, networking opportunities, and practical solutions on topics such as municipal heat planning, financing, grid connection issues, and climate adaptation. Admission to the trade fair and program is free of charge for municipal representatives on this day.
