DZG Metering is expanding its direct current portfolio with the GSH6080 and GSH6225 meters. As Class C DC meters, they set new standards for calibration-compliant global billing in charging infrastructure.
For many years, DZG Metering has been developing and producing energy meters for electric mobility and industrial applications that comply with calibration regulations. Since 2021, the company has supplied the world’s largest manufacturers of electric vehicle charging infrastructure. A pioneer in calibration-compliant DC measurement, DZG Metering is synonymous with precise measurement technology, regulatory compliance and practical system solutions.
With the new GSH6080 (up to 0.8 MW / 800 kW) and GSH6225 (up to 2.25 MW / 2,250 kW) DC meters, DZG Metering is expanding its portfolio for use in modern DC charging stations. Both devices meet the requirements of MID, UL certification and German calibration law (MessEG/EV). This enables them to be used worldwide, from classic AC/DC charging stations to powerful high-power charging applications.
High-precision DC measurement for transparent billing
Both DC meters support the measurement of bidirectional energy flow and are therefore ideal for future applications such as V2G, V2C and V2L. These functions are becoming increasingly important in light of growing electrification and grid feed-in.
Class C accuracy (0.5%) is particularly important for high charging capacities, as it enables precise, fair and calibration-compliant billing, even at the megawatt level.
These devices are designed for mounting on a 35 mm top-hat rail and can measure charged energy with great accuracy. Cable loss compensation can be performed using either software or a 4-wire measurement method. Transparent and legally compliant billing is achieved using the Open Charge Metering Format (OCMF), which includes digital signatures and full compatibility with S.A.F.E. transparency software.
System integration is possible via a REST API, Modbus RTU and two independent RS485 interfaces. Internal memory allows archiving of up to 300,000 charging processes and extensive calibration-relevant log data.
Smart-Metering-Funktionen für zukunftssichere Ladeinfrastruktur
The integrated smart metering functions include a calibration logbook, the ability to perform remote firmware updates, dynamic pricing models, tariff texts and customisable displays for customers. The public key can be accessed via a QR code on the illuminated dot matrix display.
The extended operating temperature range of up to +80 °C ensures reliable performance in challenging environments, such as high-performance fast charging stations.
Both meters are compatible with the ED-02 external display, which complies with calibration regulations and displays information related to billing, regardless of the meter’s position within the charging station.
Two models – different areas of application
With a voltage range of 50 V to 1000 V and a current range of up to 800 A, the GSH6080 is particularly well-suited to DC charging points and industrial applications. Designed for voltages from 150 V to 1500 V and currents up to 1500 A, the GSH6225 addresses high-power charging scenarios with increasing power requirements.
The new DC meters are developed and finished in Germany / Europe to meet the highest quality and manufacturing standards.
At E‑world Energy & Water, DZG Metering will be presenting the new GSH6080 and GSH6225 meters. Visitors can find out more about the expanded DC portfolio and view the devices at stand 5E116 in Hall 5.
