Call for Papers 2027 - Topic Areas

Alongside the large and varied exhibition area, E‑world energy & water offers a comprehensive content program, including expert presentations and panel discussions. Part of the program is organized by German and European associations as permanent program partners. The program of our expert forums is also expanded by submissions we receive in the context of our annually published Call for Papers, starting from September 14, 2026.

As part of the Call for Papers, you can submit ideas on various predefined topics (Scaling Energy Innovation, Flexibility & Storage, Trading, European Gas Markets, Municipal Energy Transition, Resilience Strategies) and formats (Science Slam, Call for Startups, Career Day). These topics and formats form, among other things, the framework for the program at our four expert forums…

As key points of attraction at the trade fair, they encourage discussion on current and relevant topics in the energy sector. Would you like to contribute to interesting expert discussions at the trade fair? If so, please feel free to submit proposals on the topics listed below in the context of our Call for Papers 2027.

Call for Papers - Topic Areas 2027

Scaling Energy Innovation

Innovation and new business models are essential in the energy sector. Companies must therefore lead the way with innovative thinking in order to survive in today’s market. How can this be achieved, and which business areas are particularly affected? Under this topic area, you can submit ideas on corporate innovation, including future technologies like AI, robotics, fusion reactor technology and marketing tips for startups.

Flexibility & Storage

Flexibilities and storage systems are a key part of the future energy supply. How can grid connection points be created and large-scale battery storage be combined with renewables? What market models and products relating to flexibilities already exist, and what regulatory and technical framework is required to establish storage as an integral part of the energy system? You can submit answers to these questions under this topic area.

Trading

The EU energy market is changing dynamically. Capacity markets ensure supply security, while ETS II and the future of the carbon market set new price signals. Energy traders develop targeted power plant strategies to optimally market flexibilities. At the same time, the reform of the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) requires continuous adaptation of trading strategies to the new regulatory framework. European Gas Markets

The European gas markets are in the midst of a transformation. What price trends can we expect against the backdrop of decarbonization and geopolitical crises? And what about the development of fossil fuel-based, CO₂-based and H₂-based gas infrastructures, the green gas quota and gas storage? What role will issues such as carbon management and the roll-out of hydrogen play in the future? We are looking forward to your submission in this topic area!

Municipal Energy Transition

The municipal energy transition requires clear strategies. Municipal heat planning lays the foundation for sustainable supply structures. At the same time, the Building Energy Act  sets new standards for existing buildings, posing challenges for owners and municipalities. A key success factor is targeted communication with all heating transition stakeholders to build acceptance and efficiently drive the transformation together. Do you have ideas on this topic? The concept of resilience is becoming increasingly important in the energy sector against the backdrop of international defense initiatives, which also concern the protection of our critical infrastructure. What international resilience strategies and plans are already in place, and how can businesses also strengthen their resilience (for example, through business continuity management and IT/OT security)?
